Phoebe Madden has proven to be one of the most influential teachers and mentors in my acting career. In High School, she gave me intense, beneficial acting and voice training that I still use today. She prepared me for all of my auditions and was also a co-director and creator of my original show. She continues to advise me as I pursue acting in NYC and has been able to provide support from afar. I recommend Phoebe to any aspiring artist without hesitation. It is important to learn from someone that is a talent herself, and can see the potential in anyone. So if you are ready to work, and learn, and create, then Phoebe’s voice studio is the place for you.

I started lessons with Phoebe as an anxious middle-schooler who loved to sing but found it extremely difficult to perform in front of others. At just the right pace and with great love, Phoebe helped transform my tentative 8th-grade self into a more confident young adult who no longer strays from the opportunity to share music with an audience. It can be easy for any performer to get stuck in a competitive, “who’s the best?” mindset, but the incredibly supportive atmosphere of Phoebe’s studio made this a non-issue for me. I performed alongside many talented peers in her voice concerts, but I never once felt “less than.”

Among many other things, Phoebe astutely recognized my creative, introspective nature and encouraged me to write original songs that expressed my socially-conscious voice. This is a prime example of Phoebe’s distinct ability to mold her teaching approach to each student’s unique personality and needs. I have no doubt that her guidance and support played an integral role in my acceptance to Brown University as a well-rounded student with meaningful musical accomplishments to compliment my academic performance.

Our daughter, Rebecca, took lessons from Phoebe for 5 years and helped her to become a confident and poised singer. She was instrumental to Becky’s success in high school and in earning a vocal scholarship to Assumption College, where she sings in the chorale as well as in the acapella chamber ensemble, VOCE.

My daughter had been studying with Phoebe for more than six years when she had a sample lesson with a professor at a major music conservatory. At the end, the professor said that most students who have been studying so long have damaged their voices and ingrained poor technique. “You,” she commented, “have had a good teacher.”

I cannot say enough about how valuable my voice lessons with Phoebe Madden have been. Phoebe’s coaching gave me the skills and confidence to participate in my high school drama club, cantor at St. Gregory’s Church and eventually become a member of The Jackson Jills a cappella group at Tufts University. In addition to improving my musical technique, my lessons with Phoebe taught me how to fully embody a character and express the underlying sentiment of a song. Additionally, Phoebe’s biannual voice concerts gave me the opportunity to perform in front of an audience. This training and performance experience was invaluable preparation for future auditions and shows. Phoebe has always been incredibly supportive – meeting with me for summer lessons when I was home from college and connecting me with singing opportunities in the community. Working with Phoebe instilled in me not only a sense of musical competence, but also the confidence I needed to take risks. Phoebe has always been her students’ biggest fan and I am so grateful for her encouragement and guidance over the years.

Our eldest daughter auditioned to become a student of Phoebe’s when she was a sophomore. While our intention was to provide our daughter with vocal training to increase her singing ability, she received far more than we could have ever imagined.  Training with Phoebe has become a family tradition. All four of our daughters have now studied and grown under Phoebe’s loving and capable tutelage. Phoebe not only trains students in vocal technique and song analysis, but also characterization, diction, speaking strength, stage presence, posture and body movement. Beyond all of this, our daughters have become confident, poised and proficient young women under Phoebe’s influence. We are grateful to Phoebe for sharing her talent, wisdom and love with our children.

My daughter Abigail has studied voice and performance with Phoebe Madden for the last 8 years. Under Phoebe’s direction and teaching, Abigail become an accomplished, versatile, well-trained and confident singer, songwriter and performer. Phoebe brings incredible positivity into everything she does, and this quickly rubs off on her students. Her teaching style is high quality, kind, supportive, and uplifting. She creates a community of performers who see the beauty in one another and she fosters this positive environment in all aspects of her teaching.

The word I use most when describing Phoebe is MAGICAL. She has been nothing short of amazing with Abigail, being both her teacher, friend, confidant and a consistent model of grace and kindness.

Abigail was recently accepted to the prestigious Berklee College of Music (Performance and Songwriting) in Boston, MA. There is no doubt in my mind that her classes taken and time spent with Phoebe were a huge part of that successful acceptance.

Phoebe is a consummate professional. She is a true talent and an amazing soul. I can not recommend her enough as a teacher, mentor, and friend!!!

Phoebe has enriched my daughter’s life in so many ways. Not only did she receive outstanding vocal training, she was encouraged and nurtured by an amazing role model. As a result, when she entered college last fall she earned two music scholarships, was appointed a campus Cantor and has been hired to sing at local parishes by her choir directors. We never expected her lessons to pay off in this way and are so grateful for Phoebe’s personal and professional support.
